There’s always events of one type or another going on in and around Exmoor
See below links to web resources that might prove helpful…
Exmoor National Park
See their website for lots of information on things to do on Exmoor – check out their calendar www.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk/enjoying/events This is a great Exmoor website…lots of things to check out….
Exmoor Pony Centre
A really great place to spend an hour or two is the Exmoor Pony Centre at Ashwick near Dulverton. www.exmoorponycentre.org.uk ….the postcode is TA22 9QE but mind this does not lead you a merry dance if you’re using a SATNAV…..aim for Dulverton and follow directions taken from their brochure “From Dulverton take B3223 Lynton/Exford. Follow road for 4 miles following signs to Exmoor Pony Centre.”
An excellent local company that provide many outdoor experiences and activities…take a look at their website www.exmooradventures.co.uk
West Somerset Railway
A hugely popular attraction is the steam railway at Minehead. West Somerset Railway is the longest preservation line in England. Steams do not run everyday so best to check if only steam will do. Diesel traction engines also take passengers to and from Minehead to Bishps Lydeard which is approx 6 miles north west of Taunton. (The line used to connect direct with Taunton but Mr Beeching had other ideas and the branch was axed in the 1960s.) Get the full story and timetable from www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk/timetables
