Well known for being where Exmoor meets the sea, Porlock is a place with interesting contradictions. Slightly off the beaten track yet easily accessible… modern in its ways yet traditional in its community value.
Porlock is a place where you can take a minute and ponder life at a different pace. We aim to reflect the nature that surrounds us by offering our guests a calm and tranquil atmosphere to relax… an easy place to stay.
There is so much to do on Exmoor for some ideas see our events page.

We’ll meet you at the door and show to your room where you’ll find a thoroughly decent selection of teas and coffee from local tea merchants Miles. We believe in supporting Somerset business and enterprise where we can which is why you’ll find still and sparkling water from Glastonbury Water Company, quality toiletries supplied by Bath based Caroline Henry and lavender hand soap supplied by Somerset Lavender Farm.
Besides a well stocked hospitality tray, each room has an instant kettle, dressing gowns, quality bed linen and towels, TV, hairdryer a Roberts DAB radio and two chairs!
Relax & Dine
Our guest living room on the ground floor is a great place to unwind and relax…its also the place where we’ll serve you a grand breakfast and for those who would like a real easy night in it’s a place where you can enjoy evening dinner. On summer nights chill and relax in the garden… on winter nights sit and relax by the fire.
It goes without saying that what we cook is all bought locally. Whether or not you stay in for evening dinner you are more than welcome to enjoy a drink from our honesty bar…and you’ll find a couple of excellent local Exmoor gins right there! Try Wicked Wolf or Northmoor…both punch above their weight in the craft gin department and both are truly exceptional.
You’ll find both our dinner and breakfast menu under the House tab.
If walking is your thing you’ll have come to the right place. The South West Coast Path and Coleridge Way both run right through or close by Porlock. We’ll help you out with a half hour circular stroll or a more ambitious endeavour exploring where Exmoor meets the sea.
